Here are some photos from the new Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The ride is currently doing soft openings and are expected to open December 6.
This is a sensory experience walk-through attraction like none other. The details are up to Disney standards and projection of Capt. Jack is phenomenal (It looks like a real person).
These next four photos shows a very good projection of Captain Jack Sparrow with a voice record done by Johnny Depp.

Be Our Guest, Beauty and the Beast, Dining, Disney, Disney Dining, disney world resort, Event, food, Magic Kingdom, New Fantasyland, Restaurant, restaurants, review, suits of armor, Walt Disney World
I have now attended both lunch and dinner at the newest Disney World Resort restaurant, Be Our Guest, and I will here share my opinions about the experience.
Be Our Guest restaurant is located in the not yet open New Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom next to Enchanted Tales with Belle.
Let’s start with lunch!
First when entering the castle you head over to this room.
This room contains six suits of armor that whispers in French, sneezes, snores and coughs. It also contains three displays which shows menus and picture of the food that you will be able to order. This room will probably be very helpful when a longer line is formed. Guests can then see what they would like to have for lunch before they place their order in the next room, which will most likely speed up the ordering process.
The next room that you enter is the room where you order your food. The way you order the food is very similar to the way you order over at Captain Cooks at the Polynesian hotel, just a little more high-tech. Each group is given a RFID tracker in the shape of a rose, this will let your server know what food you ordered and where you are seated.
Then you order what you would like to eat on this touch screen where you also can pay if you are paying with credit card. If you need to pay cash there is a register on the other side of the room.
We decided to dine in the Rose Gallery since that room is only open for lunches and not dinner. It’s a very beautiful room with a 7 feet tall music box in the middle and tapestries and paintings on every wall.
My wife had the Grilled Steak Sandwich and I had the Praised Pork. The grilled sandwich was pretty big and it came with a side of fries. I must unfortunately say that I though it was a bit tasteless and a bit overcooked and the fries was nothing out of the ordinary. The braised pork however was flavorful and perfectly prepared. Some more spices could be added but it was overall a good dish. Hint: If you are like me and want to have more sauces for your fries or sandwich that can be arranged with some persistence. I had to ask different people if the had some sauces and the first person said that only ketchup was available. The new one said that she could get me some other sauces and brought out some Mayonnaise, Dijon mustard and H1 steak sauce. The mustard complimented the steak sandwich perfectly!
Soda machines are also available in all the rooms and are self-serve so there is no extra charge for a refill.
Lunch was a little pricy for what you got and I don’t think you got the same value for your money when you compared to their dinner. I have to give them the thumbs up for their service! The food arrived just minutes after we sat down and they were really friendly. While we were eating they came up to us and asked how everything tasted and there were always someone present to take requests or concerns.
So let’s talk about dinner.
Dinner at the Be Our Guest restaurant was Fantastic!!
We had no problem getting a table and were ready to be seated within a matter of minutes. When we walked in we requested a table in our favorite room, the West Wing, which they had no problem in giving us.
The West Wing is a pretty small room and does not fit that many tables. It has two unique features that none of the other rooms have. It has a corner section which contains the Beasts enchanted rose and a fireplace with a painting of the Beast before he was turned in to a beast.
And about every 20 minutes, a rose pedal will fall from the rose and when lightning strikes the castle, the painting will show a picture of the beast for just a brief second.
Tables are very nicely set up with the beautiful menus and napkins in the form of a rose. For dinner we had an appetizer, entrée, dessert and the extra little special order… The Grey Stuff!
Our first course was this assorted meats and sausage platter. It was a two-person appetizer and it was magnificent! The meats and sausages were flavorful and the bread was crisp and tasty. It reminded me a lot of the meat platter over at Wilderness Lodge’s Territory Lounge.
Our entree’s were the Pork chop and the Pan-seared salmon. The pork chops were really good but could have used some more spices but it was the pasta gratin that made the dish! The salmon came with leek fondue and saffron mashed potatoes. It was flavorful and the sweetness of the saffron complimented the salmon in a perfectly.
The entrée was very great and the prices were good for what you got. We also had our first alcoholic beverage in Magic Kingdom while eating. I had beer and my wife had a glass of white wine.
Let’s move on to the deserts!
Desserts will be presented to you in like this. They use the same carts as they used during the day to serve lunch. I really like this way of serving dessert because you get a chance to see the deserts before you order them.
We ordered the Chocolate Cream Puff filled with Chocolate Mousse topped with Whipped Cream and the Lemon Meringue Cupcake with Vanilla Sponge Cake, Lemon Custard Filling and Flamed Meringue Icing. The Chocolate cream puff was good. It had a harder, crusty outside and a creamy inside. If you are a big fan of chocolate then this is for you. I’m more a fan of berry and fruit desserts and I LOVED the Lemon Meringue! It was delicious!
Most exciting of all was of course the FREE dessert! I’m of course talking about the Grey Stuff!
Well, to be honest with you, it was good! But I wouldn’t say delicious! What makes the grey stuff a must are two things.
1. It looks so beautiful! (The writing is done in chocolate!)
2. It’s FREE! (Limited to one/table)
Just keep in mind that the Grey Stuff has to be requested! It is not on the menu and they will not tell you about it unless you ask!
All in all, dinner was amazing! Even though the dinner was a bit more expensive, it had a much better value/dollar than lunch!
Leave me a comment and tell me what you thought about Be Our Guest and if you thought the Grey Stuff was delicious!
